I have received your letter date the 22d Instt enclosing the 1st sett of a Bill of exchange drawn by Dennis Burley for one hundred & twenty Dollars & have obtained the warrant for that sum, which I now enclose you agreeably to your request. —

I have recd your letter dated the 7 Instt — returning my station of your account, I consider that after Lieut the division having received me of the sum of ten hundred Dollars for the Recruiting service, with which you are therein charged. In making a Rental of the acts Public monies, Officers should be particular, as there are generally Vouchers on file in the Office upon which each charge is founded. — your letter has given me much uneasiness & trouble in tracing the circumstances attending these matters and at length I discovered your rect for all the money with which you are charged — as the receipt of the money may have slept your memory I enclose you copies of your receipts on file in this Office, with a request that in future more caution may be observed in transactions of this nature —
