On the examination of your accounts, an error has been discovered in the valuation of a quantity of shot, purchased by you of John Brown, againt the the owners of American Hope, Copy of his bill is annexed — by which you will observe, that 1796 lbt averaging 192/% for every ton, (making 12,533 lb) has been extended 50 tons 13 hundd whereas at 2240 lb for every ton the weight is no more than 23 Tons 9 hund. 5 lb — making a difference of T. 16.1. or (at 66% ds P ton,) Dols 115. 66.
I give you this earliest information of the circumstance, that you may investigate the matter, & inform me of the result without delay —
