Sir,
Your letter of the 11th inst. is now before me, and by which it appears you are elated with hopes of being governed by a man of our own choice, but I am sorry that by different accoun[ts] from several parts of the state it appears that the electi[on of] James Ross is rather doubtful.
On the 12th inst. Danl Fisher arrived with [the] Clothing for Fort Wayne & delivered me a Barrel of Sugar for the transportation of which I have paid him thirteen [undecipherable]. The Clothing, I have pushed forward on its way to Presq isle and should the present fine weather continue it may r[each] its destination before winter; but I am apprehensive that [the] Cloathing, destined for Detroit not yet come to hand can not reach that post before next spring.
