Sec. of State Trenton Oct 16^th 1799 Sir [private] As two weeks only intervene between us & the meeting of congress, I request the favor of you to turn your thoughts to the subjects of communications both of information & evidence necessary to be made to that body at the opening of the session; and in particular, to prepare a summary of the rise, progress & declaration & suppression of the rebellion in Pennsylvania. Every thing in the Indian department & in the Mississippi walk as all other things relative to military service necessary to be laid before the Legislature and in general to give sentiments on the state of the nation at large; at home & abroad, will be very acceptable from able & the Means to be faithful humble servant Sec. at War Trenton Oct 16^th 1799
