Sir
in the letter I wrote you upon half ones
apparently extravagant & unauthorized charges for articles furnished
yourselves & troops by James little Contractor & requesting you
to forward the original returns upon which those charges were
made that I may be enabled to judge how far you were
authorized in making your requisitions upon the Contractor
to which I have not yet received your answer. I apprehend from
the above I expressed of having those returns transmitted as
soon as possible that you would have prevented the necessity
of a second letter upon this occasion by an immediate compli
ance as you have neglected, I therefore again repeat to you
to lose no time in transmitting to this Office all the returns
for Quarter Master & Hospital Stores, with such other expla
nations as the nature of the returns may require —
