The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the sum of one hundred & seventeen Dollars & Two Cents, for rations & Quarter master Stores furnished the Recruits at New London by Majr John & Amos Woodward, between 1 Mar & the 30 Sepr 1799 which sum you will please to pay them upon their granting you the necessary receipts

I inclose you a letter received from John Mc Scott acting Pay master to the Troops on the Missisippi with his account current & Vouchers for monies expended, which were received from you. It being proper that these accounts from in the 1st Instance, meet an examination in your Office, they are referred to you for that purpose, & Mr Scott has been accordingly notified thereof. That no time may be lost in calling the accountable persons to account I have to request that you will give these accounts as early an examination as possible, & return them with his letter to this Office with your remarks thereon.
I also enclose you the muster & pay rolls of Capt Bishells Rifle[s] Recruits from 1 July to 20 Sepr 1799, & a letter with sundry muster Rolls accompanying it from Major Westly of the 3d Regt at Staunton. I have referred the latter Officer to you for the information he requests in his letter, & have informed Capt Bishell that his Rolls were referred to your Office
