Estimate for the Ensuing Year
Document 1799In order for McHenry to complete his estimate for the ensuing year he requires Simmons to furnish him with an estimate of the number of clerks needed in his office and their salaries, including Simmons' own salary, and also that of a messenger.

War Department, Trenton, Octor: 7, 1799 Sir, To enable me to complete my Estimate for the ensuing year, I request you will please to furnish me with an Estimate of the number of Clerks necessary to be employed in your Office, and their Salaries; also including your own, and that of a Messenger, with the Contingent Expences, for the year 1800.
