An Estimate of the amount of your Salary as Superintendant of Military Stores; the Clerks employed in your Office; and the probable amount of Stationery, Wood, and Contingent Expences for your Office.
The number of Labourers, and the Sum necessary for their Pay for the ensuing Year, in the Public Stores.
The amount of Rents for Stores for the use of the Public, at the several Places in the United States.
The above Estimates and Informations are requested as early as possible, in order to proceed with the General Estimate. You will please to forward them to the Secry. of War.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
Samuel Lewis Junr.
Samuel Hodgdon Esqr.
---
Yesterday afternoon we had a meeting of the Gentlemen in the different public Offices, friends to the Election of James Ross, to concert measures to promote his Election as Governor of Pennsylvania — about fifty assembled, when it was agreed by a majority, that we should meet, on the day of Election, at the Sign of the William Penn in Frankford, at One O'clock p.m. and proceed from thence to the place of Election — and to return out of Town the same afternoon —
Forty two agreed thereto — This looks well — I shall hope to see you on the Ground at Mearns's —
Please to inform me, by return of Post, when, and where the Mayor's Court for Philadelphia will sit— I am interested therein, and should not like that "the Irishman" who abused and beat me in the Street, should have it in his power to nonsuit me — I must apologize for the frequent trouble I give you; but I know of none in Philadelphia, but you, to apply to in such cases — I thank you for your letter of the 30. ult. relative to our neighbourhood.
Yours &c.
Samuel Lewis Junr.
