I recd your letter dated Belfield the 23^d inst. of Sept. ulto. It is too true, that the [strikethrough: [undecipherable]] mission to France is every where disapproved [strikethrough: of by the federalists, and that] neither. [strikethrough: any individual] [strikethrough: [undecipherable]] the government [strikethrough: will wice be gaind by the President or] [strikethrough: the government] itself will gain drive any support from the Opposition [strikethrough: any thing by the measure] on its account. [strikethrough: They will praise] the Jacobins Jacobins will be open hater and others, all [strikethrough: the means to answer their purpose,] who are not Jacobins, of their principles; [strikethrough: and damn the man to whom it is owing] [strikethrough: Is] I am [strikethrough: In the] in my opinion [strikethrough: gone] that the [recent] changes which have taken place in France and the apparent tendency of their things to a speedy restoration of monarchy ought to induce a suspension of the mission? [proper] I hope as occasions offer, you go among the Judges of your district, talk them of our affairs [strikethrough: , fair and honest explanations any] [they may have imbibed] [strikethrough: mis conceptions] respecting your [or views of government] political conduct. [strikethrough: Do not neglect [undecipherable]. Tho' such a course [undecipherable] in a wise man, and their course.] It will serve to amuse you and [strikethrough: also] must be agreeable to your late constitutents.
