Sir,
I have received your favour of the 20th instant covering Mr Saml Lewis's letter, respecting Joseph Johnston's power of Attorney to which I shall immediately pay the necessary Attention.
I shall be prepared for transportation of the cloathing you mention from this post, but I am apprehensive that destined for Fort Wayne cannot reach Presqu' isle in season to cross the Lake before the winter —
Our approaching Election engrosses much of the public attention at this place & throughout the Western counties — & I have no doubt of Mr Ross having a respectable Majority but I am sorry that even in our own town several whom we expected were his friends are suspected of being his enemies —
I am much obliged by your attention to the Bll of sugar as our old stock has been expended some time.
Pray inform me in your next of the Weight of the cloathing & now on the way destined for Detroit —
I am Sir Your obd Hble Servt
