September 25^th 1799 Sir I transmit you herewith a statement of the balance remaining on the hands of Capt Mich^l Kalteisen from the pay & freight of the troops stationed at Fort Jay (N.Y.) amounting to twenty dollars which sum you will of course accredit from his pay on the pay Rolls of his Company in order to balance that amount & of which he will be informed I am &^c W S
