Sir I have received your letter of the 4^th ins^t & have had it under, after mature deliberation on the subject am of opinion, that to prosecute Leholites in his present situation, would avail nothing towards a recovery of what may be due by him to the United States— should he, however, make his appearance again, in any of our Atlantic States, measures will certainly be taken to effect a recovery which in its elevation will no doubt expose the baseness of his conduct.
