Captⁿ Neh^a Freeman New York Accountants Office April 24^th 1799 Sir I have received your letter dated the 28^th and must confess myself entirely at a loss to know why you should conceive that the deduction I stated from your account proceeded from enmity. I tried to give the grounds upon which that deduction was made they were just ones, & such as have always governed in this Office. I therefore request you will state the grounds upon which you have formed your opinion — the receipt of C. Fitch &c will be paid on your application to Nicholas Fish supervisor — I am &c. &c. W. S.
