Captⁿ Alex^r Gibron Accountants Office Staunton V^a April 25^th 1799 Sir As you stand charged with monies on account of the Recruiting service, I have to request that you will forward your recruiting account, noting opposite the names of each Recruit, where & when he is a midterm, whether present, absent on leave, or deserted, & if the latter, when, if any of them are enrolled soldiers, it will be necessary to note when & from what Company & by whose authority— you will also forward the Receipt rolls for pay of yourself & recruits for the months of February, March & April & May 1799, in order that I may be enabled finally to close your account on the Books of this Office— as all army accounts of nature are to be transmitted to the Accountancy & Pay master Generals for examination & settlement.
