Vouchers N^o 2 & N^o 16 in account to are Citizens' accounts the former is for a charge proper to be exhibited at the Navy Department & the latter is the account of John M^cClelin, mentioned in the inclosed remarks. Sep^t 16^th 1799 Sir The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the sum of twenty seven dollars, being for the pay of Thomas Simmons, Sergeant Major in Lieut^t Colo^l Posey regiment Virginia militia, while on the Western expedition from 2^d Sep^t to 25^th December 1794 inclusively, which sum you will please to pay him taking the necessary receipt.
