Mr Ezekiel Halcomer Accountants Office
Middletown, Connecticut, Sept 11th 1799
Sir
The Auditor of the Treasury has transmitted to this Office for examination and settlement a part of your account of Supplies to the Troops at Middletown under the Command of Capns Ripley & Miller amounting to Drs 344.74 but previous to commencing the examination it will be necessary for you to shew why 17 Cents per ration should be allowed you as at the same time produce certificates from these Officers certifying when you augmented the ration & what articles composing the ration were augmented.
In looking over your accounts I observe Drs 142.81 charged for barrack rent, being so much paid by you the different persons & most of them for the same period — this being apparently wrong will require you to explain by whom they were all occupied.
