The Secretary of War Some time past reques[ted] me to make a statement to him of the price of the Arms manufactured hear and the probable improvements we Should make in the business (being informed he is absent) I have taken the liberty to inquire wheather it would not be agreeable to you and him to see a Sample of the Arms we are now a making and if you wish me to Send on a small cheft at the time I make my report will doe it on your request that you may see what improvements is made in the business and how they will compare with other Arms that are making for the Goverment Service— And it maybe a Satisfaction to fome of the members of Congres from the different parts of the Union to see at there next Sefion a Specimen of what the Public money is expended for at this place
