Sept^r 1799 Sir I rec^d your letter respecting my Act and also one from the Accountant where in he says that he cannot find that I have been Mustered as Adjutant and therefore it is inadmissible, his remark as to not finding me Mustered as Adjut. is very just as the troops in Georgia was not Mustered untill after I had quit doing that duty, but if he will take the trouble to look at the Monthly Returns for the time I did the duty I think he will find in some of them where I am Mentioned as doing the duty of Adjutant. He also says that any charge for extra service in Mustering the Militia in the State of Georgia is inadmissible as no provision being made by law for such service when performed by Officers in the service of the United States, but I can assure him that it has been allowed and if he will look at Maj^r Freemans Accounts while in Georgia I think he will find that M^r.
