Boss New York 1^st August 30, 1799 Sir I have received your letter of the 22^d Ins^t and observe you wish a transfer to your Credit from the Books of the Accountant of the Navy to the Books of this Office but this Sir cannot be done, the accounts of this Department cannot properly be connected with those of the Department of War therefore still be held accountable in the money now on your hands, agreably to the Statement heretofore transmitted to you arising from your transactions with this Dep^t any monies
