I have recd your letter of the 18th Instt
The representation it contains is satisfactory, but it will be more agreeable that the balance other than the one employed as your Waiter be inclusive on the returns for his rations and as it is consistent with general rule I doubt not but in future, this will be complied with —
Knowing as I do, that other Officers had, through inadvertency drawn rations for their Waiters who were not Soldiers I was led to make the inquiry of you which you quote —
