I have received your letter dated the 8 Inst enclosing Muster & Pay Rolls of the Troops at Ringwood for the month of July 1799. As the Pay master General has opened an Office at this place, and it being his duty in the first instance to liquidate all Army accounts, the Rolls were referred to him for examination and payment; from him you will accordingly be informed of the result thereof, and your future communications will be to that Office — My letter to you of the 22 Instt will inform you of the State of your account and the balance wanted.

I have received your letter dated the [undecipherable] enclosing Muster & Pay Rolls of the Forts & Staff at Niagara for the month of July 1799. As the Pay master General has opened an Office and it being his duty in the first instance, to examine & liquidate all Army accounts, the Rolls will be referred to him for that purpose; & he will communicate with the frontier Officers on the subject— your draft which you spoke of in favor of Majr Forsyth the Qr Mr had better be directed to that Officer, & however it should be drawn previous to your receipt of this letter it will be referred to him, when forwarded here for payment
