I have received your letter of the 26 Inst enclosing your accounts up to the 1st July with as Agent of fortifications also those towards advances and Pay lists of this Battalion on his Detachments all which will be examined & you will on course be informed of the result— The amount found due on Lieut Leonards Pay Rolls will be remitted as you desire—
The removal of the Office of Government to this place on continuance of the prevailing Fever in Philadelphia will account for my writing to you from hence—

I have received your letter dated the 2d Inst enclosing Muster & Pay Rolls of the Detachment at Fort Norfolk for July 1799 — & ac Was he closed May 1st past— The former will be transferred to C. Swan, P. M. G. for examination & payment where duty it is on this first instance to liquidate all Army accounts and to whom you are requested to forward all your subsequent accounts, the receipt Rolls will be examined here & the proper amount entered to your credit, of which you will be duly informed. Mr Swan having also an Office at this place your communications to him will be directed accordingly
