Pittsburg 20 Aug^t 1799 Sir In consequence of the B^d of Clay at the Glass Works being nearly expended, and your Letter to M^r Williams informing that we have nothing but disappointment to expect from our Contract with M^r Sickles I have advised M^r Wentz to proceed to Philad^a & Borden Town for a fresh supply of Clay he will therefore set off tomorrow, but on his arrival in the City will call on you for assistance. I have told Wentz the quantity of Clay to be procured at this time ought to be sufficient to answer a Year Say five or Six Tons — Agreeable to the a use of what Work three Months will make & a given by other [undecipherable: parleys] embracing a Change at the end of the two worst Trim Months having many advised without any [undecipherable] of obtaining [undecipherable] offers more [undecipherable] a Workman. I have the [undecipherable] agreed w^th the present Company that Notice may be expected until the last day of October at which being and indeed that even this Concession on account in the Terms will be included therein. There is now a Considerable quantity of Window Glass on hand at the Works this season not yet being favourable for the sale of it. I wish you could have time to obtain Warrants for our Conewango Lands I find that those Lands are becoming much more valuable. a Number of Applications have been made by Letter for me to [undecipherable: trade] them on alarm & a M^r Faulkner who Built the Saw Mill in Partnership with the Doctor Somers on a Purchase from M^r Fergusonty has directed that we have a better Title and has beg^d of me to let him have a Preference in purchasing the Tract on which his Mill stands.
