Springfield August 24^th 1799. Sir, I forgot in my last to mention the necessity there is of procuring a further supply of Water, for the accomodation of the Engine, in case of Fire. I would suggest the expediency of digging, one more well & sinking two large cisterns — the Water to be introduced by aq[ueduct] from the Roofs of the large Buildings. If this mode meets your approbation — be good enough to give me your directions to proceed to carry it into effect.
