Philadelphia 28^th August 1799 Sir, I have received your letter of this date, However desirous I may be to adjust my Accounts, while acting as agent to the quarter master General. I do not wish to urge an adjustment that may in the most remote degree tend to the injury of the United States. Convinced of your disposition to comply with my wishes as soon as relative circumstances permit, I shall wait with patience for the completion of the general arrangement; that will enable you to do it with satisfaction to yourself & safety to the Public.
