Durbeck the Commanding August 23^d 1799 Officer Machias/Machiasport Sir In the Quarter Master Generals accounts pointed to this Office attached as a [undecipherable: Voucher] is "included as a payment to Andrew Filler for his services at the Post of Machiasmachiasport as a Mason for three hundred & thirty days out to be employed previous to the 2 day September 1791 at 3 dollars p^r day amounting to the sum of two hundred sixty Dollars. Before the admission of this account it is necessary that I should be informed by you of this man was employed by your directions, at what service, & whether it relates belonging to the line of the Army & when his services commenced and any other observations you may please to make to enable me to judge of the propriety of admitting the charge. it appears the man could not write his name, there being a mark annexed to the certificate without any certificate being with it that the services were actually performed.
