Captⁿ George Ingersoll                  August 21 1799 West Point Sir     I have received your letter of the 15 Inst^t enclos[ing] a recept Roll for pay of the Company under your Comm^d for June 1799 - also sundry Loose receipts, the am^t of which, together with the sum found receipted on the Roll, making in all four hundreds & fifty six Dollars, & "/100 will be placed to your Credit on the Books of this Office, - an examination of your account Curr^t has been Suspended, until you forwards the Receipt Roll for the pay of your Company for April as the Sum of D^rs 419 ²⁰/100, was sent to Captⁿ Freeman & by him paid to you for that purpose, which sum still remains unaccounted for. In answer to your letter of the 6 Instant I would observe, that as Captⁿ Pryce's Recruiting account has not yet been received at this Office, I cannot decide on the claims of M^r Read & Williams, - Stickney, Fritz & Sanburn are each intitled to four dollars retained bounty, which sums you will please to discharge, should oppertunities offer, out of the unappropria- ted monies in your hands. Holmes, Rose, Leverets, Staunton & Perkins have been paid by Lieut^t Freeman. Upon having reference to my letters of the 28 May last you will find that I informed you that enquiry had been made of the Secretary of War, to know by what authority the barge had been built & none could be found. It will be necessary therefore, for you to make application to Gen^l Hamilton, on the subject & if it should be admitted by him, and Sanctioned by the Secretary of War, the amount will be placed to the credit of the contractor on the Books of this Office.
