Sir, I am directed by the Secretary of War to enclose the within Bill of lading, of two brass Field Pieces, six pounders (condemned) for you to take the measures relative thereto, upon their arrival. I am, Sir, respectfully, your obedient Servant Samuel Lewis Sec^y Samuel Hodgdon Esq^r. --- [illustration: oval printed seal with ship] [Printed by Mardland & McFeer, No. 47, Bay, CHARLESTON.] SHIPPED in good order and well conditioned by Major Constant Freeman —— in and upon the good Ship —— called the South Carolina whereof is master for this present voyage, John Gorman —— and now lying in the harbour of Charleston, and bound for To say, Two Brass Field Pieces, Six Pounders —— [condemned] being marked and numbered as in the margin, and are to be delivered in the like good order and well conditioned, at the aforesaid port of Philadelphia (the danger of the seas only excepted) unto Samuel Hodgdon Esquire or to His assigns, he or they paying freight for the said Field Pieces Paying freight as customary —— with primage and average accustomed. In witness whereof, the master or purser of the said Ship hath affirmed to 3 bills of lading, all of this tenor and date; the one of which 3 bills being accomplished, the other 2 to stand void.
