War dep^t aug^t 9 1799 Speaks of Capt Vance being a paymaster on the late military expedition to Northampton in Pa.] Pay office Aug^t 9. 1799 Sir I have examined the accounts of Captain Samuel C. Vance who acted as paymaster on the late militia expedition to Northampton in Pennsylvania and find that a balance of three thousand two hundred and one dollars and five cents remains in his hands. Two hundred dollars of which it appears to have originally placed there for the recruiting service. — The fore accounts and Vouchers are herewith referred to your office for final adjustment.
