Lieut^t James Tripplett Fort Norfolk August 9^th 1799 Sir, In answer to your letter of the 22 Ulto: have to inform you that your pay for the months of January, February, March, April, May 1799 has been paid to M^r Mary Nicholas agreeably to your orders, on which no further reply is necessary. With respect to the clothing: put to be sent to you while a recruit it will be necessary that you obtain a certificate from the Secretary at War stating that you was entitled thereto to be receiver money in lieu thereof, which is to be accompanied by your oath that you had not drawn any Clothing or money in lieu of the same while acting in the aforesaid Capacity.
