Sir
I have rec'd your letter of the 2d Instant enclosing a recpt rolls for pay of the Troops Stationed at Fort Jay under your command for May & June 1799 - the amount thereof [undecipherable] being Five hundred fifty seven Dollars & [undecipherable], will accordingly be placed to your [undecipherable] on the Books - [undecipherable].
In reply to your request I have thought proper to allow Charles Moore half his monthly pay from the time of his appointment - you will therefore let him have the sixty dollars now in your hands and make him up [undecipherable] future bills accordingly
