Since my letter to you of the 2d a Warrant has issued from this Department in favor of Lieutt Johnt McWhirter Pay master of the 11th Regt of Infantry for 2000 Dollars on account of the fabrishnure of the Officers of said Dept, for which from the said Pay master is charged there accountable on the Books of this Office — You will accordingly receive to note this sum as additional to the other funds with which that Officer is chargeable agreeable to the abstract transmitted you, and I will inform him that he will receive from you directions for returning this fund as relates to the forms of the accounts to be required of him with you. Mr McWhirter in a letter to me on the subject is very urgent that the money should be furnished as the Officers are much in want; It will accordingly be sent by this days mail to Elizabethtown New Jersey his place of residence, and in order to facilitate his duties it would be desireable that his Instructions should be forwarded by the same Post.
