Sir
The Secretary of the Treasury has informed the Secretary of War of the arrival of twenty four cases of Muskets at Baltimore to your address from Hamburgh pursuant to directions given Mr Athon by Mr King. The Secretary of War directs me to request you to forward the whole entire as received, by the first suitable water conveyance that offers to this City to the address of John Harris Public Storekeeper here, who will be directed to receive them, and provision will also be made for discharging such engagements as you make for their transportation.

Philadelphia, 1 Aug 1799.
Sir, The plank purchased of you or through you for Cartouch Box wood is now I presume cut up, as you in fact stand charged with it, having never formally delivered it, an opportunity now presents to have the account closed; for this purpose I wish you to procure the Store Keepers Certificate that the Blocks turned into him were made of that plank, and that the number of the plasters is equal to the consumption of the plank. On such a Certificate I can consistently exonerate you from the charge —
