[146] Capt George Ingersole                                  Accountants Office Mr Brent                                                                    August 1^st 1799 Sir I have rec'd your letter of the 20th Ult: on the subject of retained bounty paid to the sea faring men of your Company — Upon examination I find that the sum of four dollars is due to each of those three men enlisted by Lieut. Dawkins viz John Ely, John Sanbors & McGatching and that [undecipherable] to those enlisted by Cap^t [undecipherable] has been paid by Cap^t Foreman, but to judge of the propriety of the claims of John McKay, Corp^l [undecipherable] Angus McClure it is necessary that Cap^t Inge should first forward his Recruiting account. — Not knowing by whom Col. Holmes [undecipherable], Joseph [undecipherable], [undecipherable] Persons were enlisted I cannot ascertain the balance that may be due them. I refer to all your attention to that portion of my letter of the 24 May which respects the Sergt. as the Substitute accounts are required for want of information on that subject. — [undecipherable] Lieut Jos.
