Accountants Office August 1^st 1799 Sir I have rec^d your letter of the 20 Ult^o on the subject of retained bounty paid to the sea faring men of your Company — Upon examination I find that the sum of four dollars is due to each of these three men enlisted by Lieut^t Dayton viz John Ely, John Sanburn, & M^cCushing and that Tripplate at their enlistm^t by Col^o Burbeck has been paid by Capt Stormant, but to judge of the propriety of the Claims of John M^cKay, Corp^l Rice & George Milliner it is necessary that Cap^t Foys should first furnish his Recruiting account — Not knowing by whom Jos Holmes, Guy Russ, Joseph Downes, Nath Sheldon & Jos Perkins were inlisted I cannot ascertain the balances that may be due them. I wrote to call your attention to that portion of my letter of the 25 May which respects the bounty, as the furloughed accounts are detained for want of information on that subject. — James W.
