Sir, I have received your letter of the 18^th instant. The following is the [underline: retail] price of Brass mountings as charge by the Gunsmiths here when repairing a smoacer number of Muskets of the times that require such, supplying any considerable number of compleat setts of mounting compared of the same particular articles might probably be had at a rate not exceeding one Dollar and fifty Cents — Heel Water . . . 2/6. Guards & Swivel . . 4/ Trigger & Plate . . 4/. Nose Caps . . . Nail Pipe, with Spring 1/6. Bell Pipe . . 2/ Five small Pipes . . 1/6 — 12/6. With respect to repairing any more Arms the letters already received is to govern — you will recollect that you have been explicitly directed by the Secretary of war on the subject, and also by my letter of the 1^st instant.
