In reply to your letter of the 25th instant
the Treasurer of the United States will transmit you the sum
of two hundred fifty five Dollars & [undecipherable] being the amount
of your account of Commissions for receiving & paying monies
from the Department [undecipherable] the 30 June 1799 the rect
of which you will please to acknowledge to

I have now to inform you that the
vouchers recd from you for payments made to the Militia of
Georgia including your own compensation as Pay master up to
30 June 179[undecipherable] have been examined & after deducting the stoppages
for rations furnished by the United States that sum of Fifty
thousand two Dollars & forty nine cents [undecipherable] has been passed to
your credit leaving a balance in your hands of Dollrs 1293 [undecipherable]
with which you remain charged on the books of this Office
but which differs from your statement & [undecipherable] arising from
Vouchers introduced by you, and not known to this Office
here — The sums received by you from the Store in
Camden County for rations supplied by the United States
is Drs 461 [undecipherable] in place thereof however you have strongly
mistake terminated the sum of Drs 499 into your general
