Your letter of the 15th with its enclosures came duly to hand. In consequence of your information relative to the legality of the Claim for pay of the Troops at Fort Bragg from 28 Novemr 1799 to 22d Feby 98, steps will be taken after proper examination in their payment. Mr. McAlly who forwarded these bills to this Office will be written to on the subject, & informed the State of forwardness in which the claim is for payment.

I have received your letters of the 21st & 23d Instt. the former enclosing the receipt of Lieutt Merewether's Claim for 88 Dollars. & other the account of Mr Taliafer Contractor for supplies to the Recruits of Captn Deakins from 1 May to 1 July — The former will be referred to your credit, & the latter will be placed under examination & the result duly communicated.
