[304] Philadelphia, 22 July, 99 Sir, I have received your letter of the 19^th instant. If the supplies sent to Col. Ogden's Regiment are really faulty in any particular, and you have no means for remedying it, he has better make another Return, and send it to me that the articles may go from hence if more convenient than the post at new york. — It is intended to make the supplies to the twelve Regiments Uniform and perfect in every particular — as to the Tent Poles, it will be best to let the Quarter Master of the Regiment procure them on the spot, they being an article that will not bear transportation; for which reason few are made here — Iam Sir, your most obedient Servant, Samuel Hodgdon Philadelphia 22 July 1799.
