Sir,
I have received your letter of the 19th instant. If the supplies sent to Col. Ogden's Regiment are really faulty in any particular, and you have no means for remedying it, he has better make another Return, and send it to me that the articles may go from hence if more convenient than the post at new york. — It is intended to make the supplies to the twelve Regiments Uniform and perfect in every particular — as to the Tent Poles, it will be best to let the Quarter Master of the Regiment procure them on the spot, they being an article that will not bear transportation; for which reason few are made here —

Sir, I have shewn the above to the Secretary of War, who says the expenditure was made under an order immediately from himself, and he requests you will make the advance to me to forward to enable Capt. Hotle to make payments and return the vouchers through me as soon as possible. I will receipt to you for him on the back of the estimate, and will hand you the vouchers for payment as soon as received.
