As there has been a transfer from the Books of the Treasury of $[undecipherable] 122 [undecipherable] to be given credit on the Books of the Office, I have enclosed you a Statement of your account as it now Stands on the Books of this Office, leaving a balance against you of $[undecipherable] 422 [undecipherable] for which Sum you will be held accountable. I observe Capt. Eakins has drawn his Subt & Forage in an irregular manner I therefore enclose you the Regulations for that purpose to which you will please direct him to conform, otherwise they will be rejected from your acct. Capt Eakins has drawn rations for his Lieutenants & other Officers without setting their names. It is necessary that every Officer should make out his own returns for his Subsistance or Furloughs have been countersigned by the Commanding Officer, who is also to countersign the returns for Visited Forces & — It will be proper for you in future to file and secure your vouchers in a regular manner I am Sir P. S. It appears from Capt. Eakins General returns for [undecipherable] that he has drawn a complete ration for every Subt, & as it is wrong and will not in future be admitted, I shall bring it back in his subsequent acct.
