John Wilkins Jun: Esq
Quarter Master Gen
Sir
War Office
July 17 1799
The accounts which have been rendered by you, as Quarter Master General, to the Treasury Department, and transmitted thence to this Office as expenditures incident to the Department of War, and those which you removed direct to this Office, are now under examination, and among them, there appear a considerable number of very objectionable charges & expenditures and such as require an early personal communication.
As you are now in this City I think it would be convenient for you to attend at this Office, & such remarks as have already occurred to me will be communicated to you for your Government —
I am Sir
