Sir Michael Gremle Contractor has under taken two charges at this Office for Settlement.
One dated the 10 June 1799 being your acknowledgement of having received 12 $ for William Bourgeois on full for one months rent — The other of the same date for 20 Dollars, being the rent of an artillery Store for one mo[nth]
As the former charge of $ 12. appears extremely high you have not mentioned for what purpose the building was occupied it must therefore necessarily be rejected from the Contractors accounts unless you show by what authority the buildings were rented also what purpose & whether the charge of rent has ever been sanctioned by the Secretary of War —
