Pittsburgh 12^th July 1799 — Sir, I have received your letter of the 5^th instant covering a copy of M^cClintock's Note for whom I shall enquire, but at present, I don't know such a man in this Neighbourhood. — I am in hopes that Col^t Stevens' business may lead to a discufsion &settlement of my Claims. I have found it necessary to inform the Secretary of War, that the Q.^t M^r Gen has on account of what he thinks an informality refused to admit an Armourer's Account; his objection is, because the Arm[undecipherable: Armourer] has not agreeable to former Arangements been employed under the direction of the Commanding Officer of Artill[undecipherable: Artillery] or the Comman^dt of the Post.
