York July 12 1799 Sir On examining the Accounts & Vouchers which accompanied your letter of the 30 Ult I find you have charged fourteen dollars price to Temple Belts being for his pay for November & December 1798, which sums were deducted (from the Pay table by order of the Commanding Officer) until he should be acquitted as being charged with theft, it is therefore necessary for you to forward a certificate from the Officer who commanded for said period at West Point showing that he has been acquitted, before the amount can be admitted to your account.
