Your letter of the 28 Ulto came duly to hand enclosing the accounts of Mr [undecipherable] & Alex Humphreys [undecipherable] the balance accot for supplies of various Quarter master & Deposite Stores furnished the recruits at Staunton under the command of Capt Alex[undecipherable] between 1 Jany & 9 June 1799, has been examined & a balance reported in his favor of eighty five Dollars & [undecipherable], which sum will be transmitted to you by the Treasurer of the United States to be by you paid to the said Alex Humphreys upon his granting you the necessary receipt.
