[Major Craig / Rec^d 15 July 1799] Samuel Hodgdon Esquire Philadelphia. Pittsburg 5^th July 1799. Sir, I have received your letter of the 28^th Ultimo covering a Bill of Articles purchased by you for Captⁿ Cornelius Lyman and which will enable me to make a settlement with him. Yesterday the Quarter Master Gen^l. set out for your City where he expects to continue not more than three or four Weeks — On Tuesday last a Detachment of Major Stephenson's Recruits marched from this place under the command of Captⁿ McKinney, destined for Bristol on Delaware — The Cloathing that these Recruits have received and which was sent to the Major is much inferior to any that has ever been delivered to troops at this place, except to the Levies in 1794 — Yesterday, was celebrated on the bank of the Allegheny by a very numerous Company and I believe nearly all good Federalists. — We have a Report that Gen^l Wilkinson is now on his Way by land from Loftus' Heights to this place.
