In answer to your letter of the 29th June ulto. received this morning, relative to exhibits, for incidental expenses, incurred by Mr. John Mackey, Pay Master, and Arie Sleeper at the Armory, at Harpers Ferry; I have to observe that it will be proper to allow, all reasonable expenses, which he has incurred, or hereafter may necessarily incur, in journeys, to and from the Armoury, in the discharge of his duties, or on business, produced by, or connected with the establishment, without being restricted to an allowance of one and an half dollars per day.
You will be pleased to instruct Mr. Mackey, what vouchers it will be necessary for him to produce, on the proof that will be required, on the settlement of such accounts.
