War department July 1^st 1799 Sir, I take the liberty to request that you will be so obliging as to purchase for the use of the thirteenth Regiment commanded by Col Timothy Taylor the following articles viz One hundred & twenty two Mess Bowls Seven hundred and six platters or Trenchers Ten felling axes Ten pick axes and ten Spades, also twelve orderly Books Two Reams of common Writing paper forty four papers of Ink powder and four hundred quills, and that you will deliver them to the Quarter Master of the said Regiment, taking duplicate Receipts one of which you will transmit to Samuel Hodgdon Esq. You will be pleased to inform Col. Taylor of the Contents of this letter.
