Pittsburg 28th June 1799.
Dear Sir,
I have received your [undecipherable: letter] dated the 21st instant Accompanied by one Addressed to Capt N. Irish a[nd] which I have Sent him
I am making every Endeavour to have the Returns Compiled & Shall then transmit them to you without delay. the Attention necessary to Some requisitions of the Qm Genl has prevented me from making that progress in the Returns that I wished — I am in hopes that Col: Stevens rejecting the Compensation offered him by the Secretary of War may induce the Secretary to Looke upon my Claim as Reasonable —
The Qm Genl is also Set out in a few days for Philada he says he is to proceed to New York & I presume will appoint an Agent of Qm Dept for that Quarter — Nothing New has Occurred Since Last Post — If you have not already I beg of you to Send the Bill of Articles Purchased by you for Capt Cornelius Lyman and I am unable to make a Settlement with him until it Comes to Hand —
I am Dear Sir your [Att'd Servant]
[undecipherable]
