Accountants Office Peterburg June 28^th 1799 Sir Some days since I directed Major General Hamilton on the subject of your coming to this City to directly take from the branch of this Office all subordinate settlements which were originally contemplated to be made in the first instance by the Pay master Generals. In reply to which he has offered me that you are ordered to repair to this place, that you are now making an arrangement for the purpose, and may shortly be expected at Philadelphia. The object of this letter is to request that as little delay as possible may take place in your compliance with that order, as the duties of this Office are now becoming too onerous, without your taking that part which allots to you therefore, will cause difficulties in the execution of mine. I have received your letter dated the 20^th inst. enclosing the account of [undecipherable] for reviewing which will in course meet an examination & the result communicated. From y^r M. S.
